The briefcase is designed for storing and transferring files for the user's own needs, in other words, to send packages to oneself. The use of the briefcase facilitates this because:

  • Creating a new package in the briefcase is simpler than creating a standard package. There is no need to enter a recipient, type of package, password, etc.

  • Packages of this type are visible in one place (in the briefcase); there is no need to search for them among other packages.

Whether the function is available to the user depends on the application configuration and possibly user permissions. This is set by the administrator.

If the function is subsequently turned off for users who already have packages in the briefcase, these will remain accessible to them via a direct link to the package until they expire or are deleted by the administrator. However, they will no longer be able to create new packages in the briefcase or see the Briefcase item in the menu.
